Family-owned Drappier is one of the finest Champagne Houses which was established back in 1808 in the Aube region of Champagne, and their cellars were built in 1152 which are among the oldest and most extensive in Europe. Drappier was a pioneer in introducing the pinot noir grape variety in Aube, a strategic decision that characterises the distinctive style of their champagne. Using very low quantities of dosage and extremely limited use of sulphites, their champagnes highlight the multifaceted aspects of their terroirs and wine-making. In addition, they do a secondary fermentation, or "prise de mousse" in all their bottle formats, riddling and disgorging individually in their original bottles. This process creates the freshness and finesse you will find in their champagne.
Today we are pleased to offer the 1979 and 2002 vintages of their Reserve de L'Oenotheque which is a cuvee that comes from the house's famous label Carte d’Or, a Pinot Noir-dominated champagne which is built for structure and complexity. These bottles have stayed peacefully in the Drappier cellar since it was produced so these bottles are excellent for drinkers to experience a great bottle of champagne that have enjoyed perfect ageing -
