Joseph Drouhin was established back in 1880 which now owns ~60 hectares of vineyard in Bourgogne and has become a powerhouse in Beaune. They own some of the most renowned vineyards such as Beaune Clos des Mouches, Chambertin, Clos de Beze, Echezeaux, Musigny, etc. Quite the perfectionist, Joseph Drouhin produces beautiful reds and whites. Its house style captures the purity of fruits and reflects the terroir well with shorter aging period in oak and earlier bottling; specifically on whites, they are pure, offering complete cleanliness in the palate.
One of their most notable white productions is the Chassagne-Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche - an exclusive terroir passed to the Drouhin family to cultivate and distribute, owned by the Laguiche family. We are proud to offer this from the 2017 vintage - a high-quality vintage in recent years. This was awarded with 91-93pts by Allen Meadows and remarked as "Sweet Spot Outstanding".

91-93pts Allen Meadows “Sweet Spot Outstanding”
A pungent nose is composed of petrol, wood and a touch of unabsorbed sulfur that shouldn't last. Otherwise the exceptionally rich, enveloping and powerful medium weight plus flavors abound with sappy dry extract that coats the palate and buffers the moderately firm acid spine shaping the delicious, dry and focused finale. This isn't an elegant wine but the complexity is impressive and in any event, refinement isn't why one buys Morgeot.
91-93pts Neal Martin
The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a wonderful, vivacious bouquet of citrus fruit infused with yellow flowers and grilled walnut, actually quite Meursault-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, touches of walnut and lemon peel, well-integrated oak and real precision and mineralité toward the finish. Excellent.
