The founder of Domaine Dublère, Blair Pethel, first began to practice winemaking in 1999 with Patrice Rion before quitting his job as an American political jounalist after 25 years and setting off on his own winemaking journey to set up Domaine Dublère with his wife in 2003. At the beginning, he purchased vineyards in Savigny-lès-Beaune and Corton Charlemagne and spent the longest time in the vineyard; and later he expanded to Morey-St-Denis, Nuits-St-Georges, Chassagne-Montrachet and Chablis. He had a clear vision of what he wanted to do from the vineyard to his wines.. Sadly after about 15 years he decided to pursue another goal and sold the domaine to Domaine des Terres de Velle 2 months ago, in which all the wines starting from the 2017 vintage will be sold under the Domaine des Terres de Velle label.
We have picked two options from Domaine Dublère, the Chablis Valmur Grand Cru 2014 and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2016, both of which are the highest-scoring wines from their portfolio by Allen Meadows. We were lucky to be able to sample these and they are simply fantastic! Highly recommend the Corton-Charlemagne as it is an impressive Grand Cru which shows elegance and complexity! All in stock and ready for delivery -
Domaine Dublère Chablis Valmur Grand Cru 2014
HK$620 per bottle, 9 bottles available
Special Offer – HK$599 per bottle (Valid until 23rd June 2019)
91-93pts Allen Meadows “Sweet spot”
Once again there is plenty of evident Chablis character to the more elegant nose of pear, green apple, white flowers, iodine and sea breeze aromas. There is outstanding intensity to the powerful, appealingly textured and dense medium weight flavors that coat the palate with dry extract, all wrapped in a mineral-driven and wonderfully persistent finale. This is good stuff and very Valmur.
Domaine Dublère Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2016
HK$990 per bottle, 17 bottles available
Special Offer – HK$900 per bottle (Valid until 23rd June 2019)
91-94pts Allen Meadows
A potent nose combines notes of green apples, white flowers, wet stone and a whiff of matchstick character. Here too there is exceptionally good richness to the equally opulent but even bigger and richer broad-shouldered flavors that exude notably more minerality on the very dry but not really austere finale that exhibits excellent persistence while really fanning out as it sits on the palate.
