The latest release of Dom Perignon Oenotheque P2 2002 is in a stunning position to buy considering its price, quality and rarity of this world-class Champagne. These bottles were aged in Dom Perignon’s cellar for an extended period, being unmoved for almost 14 years before disgorgement, followed with 2 years of post-disgorgement aging before releasing to the market.
The production of Oenotheque P2 is very limited and the extra aging offers complexity and completeness to the wine. With 2002 being an exceptional vintage in Champagne, it ticks all the boxes for people who chase for a perfect Champagne to enjoy now or for further cellaring. Nowadays, a bottle of Dom Perignon Oenotheque P2 1996 (97pts Antonio Galloni) cost over HK$3,800 a bottle which makes this newly released 2002 a fantastic opportunity to buy -
Dom Perignon Oenotheque P2 2002
HK$2,250 per bottle (In case of 3*75cl, minimum order 3 bottles)
HK$2,450 per bottle (Individual gift boxes)
97+ pts Antonio Galloni
The 2002 Dom Pérignon P2 is surprisingly, almost shockingly, austere and tightly wound. That almost surely bodes well for the future. Today, though, the 2002 is very hard to taste. Stylistically, it is also much less available than the original release. Readers lucky enough to own the 2002 should plan on being patient.
