After our small parcel of Comte de Vogue’s Musigny VV 2012 sold out last week, we are happy to let you know that we have 6 bottles of Musigny Vieilles Vignes 2006 & 2008 now available in stock too! Both 2006 and 2008 received massive scores from Allen Meadows in which the 2006 was described to be “almost exotic in character yet everything is in beautiful concordance” while the 2008 was said to “effortlessly combine a silky palate impression with serious muscle”. For sure these are some of the greatest wines in Burgundy - charming, exotic and almost explosive in the glass.
Comparing its price against the same from Georges Roumier and JF Mugnier, you will see why it is well worth to consider to complete your cellar for quality and value for money -
Do let me know if you would like to secure a bottle or two -
Comte de Vogue Musigny Vieilles Vignes, Comte de Vogue 2006 (UK importer labels) HK$4,950 per bottle, 3 bottles available 96 points Allen Meadows This is also extremely floral with a reserved nose that is an airy, spicy and ripe mélange of red and blue pinot fruit that displays really lovely violet and rose petal notes that are picked up by the minerally, intense and harmonious flavors that are beautifully proportioned and are blessed with ample amounts of dry extract on the essence of pinot and explosive, energetic and hugely long yet incredible precise finish that is also built on a base of firm minerality. This is almost exotic in character yet everything is in beautiful concordance. In a word, great.
Comte de Vogue Musigny Vieilles Vignes, Comte de Vogue 2008 (Denmark importer labels) HK$4,950 per bottle, 3 bottles available 96 points Allen Meadows “Don’t miss!” This is also quite reserved at present with an elegant, airy, cool and pure nose that is kaleidoscopically complex as it offers red currant, plum, black cherry and a panoply of floral and spice notes, in particular violet and anise, before marrying seamlessly into mineral-driven and alluring big-bodied flavors that explode on the powerful and almost painfully intense finish that delivers genuinely stunning length. I love the way Musigny can so effortlessly combine a silky palate impression with serious muscle. This should be quite impressive in time though note that it will need a minimum of 18 to 25 years of cellar time.
