Domaine du Prieure Roch is another well-known name in Burgundy and with lots of history behind the set up of this now iconic Burgundy producer. Henri-Frédéric Roch, who is a co-director of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and nephew of Lalou Bize-Leroy, set up Domaine du Prieure Roch in 1988 and has since marked a page in the history of Burgundy winemaking with his organic and bio-dynamic practices. The domaine is certified bio - farmed with full organic practice and some biodynamic practices are applied, the grapes are vinified with all stems in old wooden vats and no sulphur at any stage of the process from vine to wine. The wines usually show aggressive fruits from aromas to palate, and never lacking in oak influence however moderated nicely with the solid and generous fruits which offers a unique style among other domaines in Burgundy. Aside from their wines being unique, if you have noticed their labels, Henri is not a huge fan of complexity and lengths of details and unlike other domaines, he has kept the front label very minimalistic - logo, wine name and vintage only, not even the domaine name is mentioned!
