A spectacular domaine in Chambolle-Musigny who owns 70% of the entire Le Musigny with decent holdings also in Bonnes Mares and les Amoureuses, Comte de Vogue is arguably one of best Chambolle-Musigny producers, on par with George Roumier and JF Mugnier. The estate had a serious downturn between the 1960s and mid-1980s before its big comeback in the 1990s producing wines with silky texture and perfume aromas with substantial aging ability.
Recently arrived in stock, we think Vogue’s Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru is in a great position, with grapes being 100% sourced from the domaine’s Le Musigny vineyard, they are the baby-Musigny that are enjoyable when young so there's no need to ponder when you should open the bottle. From Allen Meadows this has merited a top score sitting side by side with Bonnes Mares and outscores Les Amoureuses, there's no reason to hesitate -
Comte de Vogue Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru 2006 HK$1,900 per bottle 94 pts Allen Meadows “Outstanding” A more deeply pitched, riper and notably more complex nose that is restrained, cool and positively gorgeous as seemingly all of the spicy elements it projects are perfectly reflected by the textured, concentrated and naturally sweet big-bodied flavors brimming with minerality and buckets of extract that render the firm tannic spine almost invisible on the direct, frank and driving finish that is almost painfully intense and where the floral character of the nose resurfaces. A flat out brilliant wine for this level and best that de Vogüé has ever made. Drink: 2016+
