Our founder has tasted a Georges Noellat Grands Echezeaux 2007 during his holiday in the past week and would love to share his tasting notes and highly recommends this beautiful wine to you for consideration. See what he has to say! -
"During my holiday over the weekend I opened a bottle of Georges Noellat Grands Echezeaux 2007 which I brought along to enjoy by the seaside. This bottle was a gfit from one of our negotiants in Beaune during my visit to Burgundy this year. I was told that I would be impressed with it. I was not convinced as 2007 is a comparatively weak vintage and so I didn't have much motivation or occasion to open it at the time so I just put it in my cellar after the trip.
However, I must say I was wrong to have doubts of this "weaker" vintage and about the work that George Noellat could produce. I was amazed the moment I pulled out thae cork - it had such complex and charming aromas as well as palate. It was brilliant from start to finish and might be one of the best Grands Echezeaux tasted over the year. I would hesitate to answer if DRC’s Grands Echezeaux 2006 that I had in April 2017 was better. At HK$1,460 per bottle for a well-made Grands Echezeaux, I am sure these wonderful bottles should find a home for people who believe that magic can always happen in Burgundy, and in many occasions it happens in some “weaker” vintage such as 2004 and 2007, this is one of the hidden gems that you should try."
Domaine George Noellat Grands Echezeaux 2007
HK$1,460 per bottle
95 pts Burgundy Cave
The domaine has done a good work that could challenge any other Grands Echezeaux. Some sensational aromas jump out from the bottle the moment the cork is pulled out. Its aroma is so impressive as well as its palate. Fantastic touch of wild berries, rhymes and dark chocolate with a creamy white chocolate embraces an exotic texture and long finish. There isn’t a single word to describe the wine because of the diverse palate profile, a definite surprise. We can’t resist to buy more bottles.
