Wine media and critics are singing praises of Burgundy's 2015 vintage, saying it to be somewhat comparable to 2005. In Cote d'Or, the 2015 vintage produces rich, powerful and statuesque wine - grapes have reached perfect ripeness yet they possess very good acidity that could age extraordinarily well.
When it comes to the perfect vintage, Christophe Roumier, the owner/winemaker at George Roumier, is always one of those who are able to produce the very best. Christophe described the 2015 vintage as one that "gave us exceptionally good maturities allied with much better than expected acidities” and "Roumier's 2015s are nothing short of fabulous, meriting basically almost any compliment that you can think of and this is true up and down the appellation hierarchy.” While Musigny, Amoureuses and Bonnes Mares 2015 are widely believed to be the legendary wines of the vintage, in such a perfect vintage for drinkers looking for affordable wines, we believe Roumier’s Chambolle Musigny would be the one that comes first to our minds – always beautiful, containing some Premier Cru grapes from their Chambolle Musigny les Fuees 1er Cru. There isn't a need to justify George Roumier's wines with critic scores because the name alone is the signal of quality.
We have a case to move and when you put it against the 2005 vintage nowadays, the price and scores are both evident of the worthiness of the 2015 - most certainly worth your consideration every time you see them available –

This is exuberantly fresh with its pretty array on the nose that is composed by notes of both red and dark pinot fruit, floral and tea aromas. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the mineral-inflected, refined and lacy medium weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced and beautifully persistent finale. This is very Chambolle in basic character.

The 2015 Chambolle Musigny Village contains around 5% whole bunch fruit. It has an understated bouquet at first, needing just a few swirls of the glass to reveal red cherry and cranberry nose with purity rather than power. The palate is very well balanced with crunchy red fruit, wonderful acidity, fresh and with a touch on confit fruit on the engaging finish. What a delicious village cru this will grow up to be.
