The smallest appellation in France, a tiny 0.85 ha monopole which is just north of Romanee Conti, this perfectly situated terroir was previously managed by Bouchard Pere & Fils before 2005. Since 2005 this beautiful vineyard has been entirely managed by the Liger-Belair family, producing arguably the best Burgundy after Romanee Conti. However, people should actually be paying attention to some of the perfect vintages of La Romanee that were made by Bouchard Pere & Fils prior to the transfer of ownership to Liger-Belair, as they are now at their prime age to enjoy and possibly only half the price of the recent production from Liger-Belair.
We are able to offer 6 bottles of Bouchard La Romanee from an epic vintage 2002, directly coming from a collector who bought from a UK merchant since release. Apart from our price that beats every listing from the world, when we put side by side with its neighbours Romanee Conti and La Tache it just shows without needing to say how great this is in value for money -
Bouchard La Romanee Pere st Fils 2002 HK$9,200 per bottle
95 pts Allen Meadows An adroit trace of wood frames stunningly elegant, dazzlingly complex black fruit aromas, leading to sappy, mouth coating, powerful and very deep if presently tight and somber flavors of astonishing richness and length. But it's the seamless harmony, superb purity of expression and sheer class that distinguishes this. In a word, breathtaking. Drink: 2014-2030
97 pts Wine Advocate A stellar wine, the 2002 La Romanee sports a gorgeous nose of violets, roses, spices, raspberries, and cherries. Medium to full-bodied, it is super-ripe, wonderfully elegant, fresh, pure, and exhibits an exceedingly long finish. Great velvety waves of candied red, bing, and black cherries dominate this decadent (yet refined) gem’s personality. Its tannin is perfectly ripe, sweet and syrupy, rendering the wine seamless and sensual. Wow! Projected maturity: 2009-2020.
