Though the two Grand Crus Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyeres-Chambertin are neighbours, many producers only name their wines to be Charmes-Chambertin even though part of their grapes are from Mazoyeres. It is debatable whether the two terroirs have much differences but Dugat Py for one separates the two parcels clearly as Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyeres-Chambertin. Dugat Py believes Mazoyeres is even a better terroir than Charmes-Chambertin. Likewise, Domaine de la Vougeraie is another example that believes in the Mazoyeres terroir - labelling the wines as “Charmes-Chambertin les Mazoyeres” ("les Mazoyeres" because they only own a tiny 0.74 hectares in Mazoyeres but still find it worthy to display the name).
Domaine de la Vougeraie owns a nice form of terrior in Bourgogne, including 6 grand crus such as Musigny, Bonnes Mares and Charmes-Chambertin les Mazoyeres. The vineyards are all credited in biodynamic farming and small yields. They are very strict in the picking of grapes during the harvesting season, making sure their grapes are in highest standard for the juice. Their wines are never over-oaked and charming from young to mature, and are fragrant, delicate and pure under the management of Pascal Marchand and Pierre Vincent.
We are happy to offer two parcels consisting one each of consecutive vintages 2010, 2011 and 2012 of Vougeraie’s Charmes-Chambertin les Mazoyeres. This is an excellent opportunity to experience a valuable domaine who makes excellent Charmes- / Mazoyeres-Chambertin at HK$3,720 per parcel (Original: HK$3,840) -
1bt x 2010 Domaine de la Vougeraie Charmes-Chambertin les Mazoyeres (Valued at HK$1,450 per bottle)

A background application of wood spice is sufficiently subtle to allow the otherwise intensely earthy, fresh, cool and agreeably pure aromas of wild red berries to shine. The reserved and quite powerful flavors are tightly wound, backward and overtly austere with excellent power and mid-palate concentration before terminating in a driving finish that delivers outstanding length. This is an absolute knockout and the old vines really show.
1bt x 2011 Domaine de la Vougeraie Charmes-Chambertin les Mazoyeres (Valued at HK$1,040 per bottle)
93 pts Allen Meadows
This is almost exuberantly pinot in basic character with its cool, pure and spicy mix of various red berries combined with a broad array of warm earth and a plethora of floral nuances. The big-bodied but round and mouth coating flavors are blessed with an abundance of structure-buffering dry extract that imparts a velvety texture to the mid-palate before terminating in a powerful and impressively long finish that displays only mild rusticity. This is really quite good and worth considering.
1bt x 2012 Domaine de la Vougeraie Charmes-Chambertin les Mazoyeres (Valued at HK$1,350 per bottle)
93 pts Allen Meadows
Here there is enough reduction present to recommend decanting your bottle if you plan to try one young in the interest of "science". There is excellent size, weight and power to the vibrant flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and while the supporting tannins are relatively fine there is some of the hallmark rusticity of Mazoyères present on the otherwise strikingly long finish. This should thoroughly reward mid to longer-term cellaring.
