Deutz is a Champagne house with German origins, founded in 1838 by two Prussian immigrants, William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. Acquired by Louis Roederer in 1993, the house now owns 42 hectares of vineyard and has an extensive sourcing network for grapes. With the financial assistance from the Roederer powerhouse, Deutz has become one of the largest Champagne houses nowadays. According to Champagne specialist and writer Tom Stevenson, the house's style is "firm, flavor-packed yet full of character”. One of their most notable productions is "Amour de Deutz", named after the statue of Cupid that stands in Deutz's courtyard in Aÿ, made from the best lots of the house and is a highly-regarded prestige cuvee.

The 2010 Amour de Deutz is open and expressive with lovely fruits such as baked apple, white peach and also a beautiful show up of brioche. It is vibrant and rich on the palate with good depth. Unsurprisingly it is already delicious nowadays and is a compelling Champagne which should not be missed.
