Family-owned Drappier is one of the finest Champagne Houses that was established back in 1808 in the Aube region of Champagne, and their cellars were built in 1152 which are among the oldest and most extensive in Europe. Drappier was a pioneer in introducing the pinot noir grape variety in Aube, a strategic decision that characterises the distinctive style of their champagne. Using very low quantities of dosage and extremely limited use of sulphites, their champagnes highlight the multifaceted aspects of their terroirs and wine-making. In addition, they do a secondary fermentation, or "prise de mousse" in all their bottle formats, riddling and disgorging individually in their original bottles. This process creates the freshness and finesse you will find in their champagne.
Today we are pleased to offer the Grande Sendree Brut Millesime 2010 and Reserve de L'Oenotheque 2002. Grande Sendrée is the prestige cuvee from Drappier. It offers the most beautiful expression of a terroir and is only produced in the best vintages. Made from very old vines of a small plot (55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay), this champagne surprises by its great fineness and powerful aromas. On the other hand, Reserve de L'Oenotheque is a cuvee that comes from the house's famous label Carte d’Or, a Pinot Noir-dominated champagne which is built for structure and complexity. The Oenotheque stayed peacefully in the Drappier cellar since it was produced so they are excellent for drinkers to experience a great bottle of champagne that has enjoyed perfect ageing.
Both readily available from stock, they are excellent-value vintage champagnes to stock up and enjoy! -
