The most famous name in Côtes du Rhône, Guigal is also one of the largest and finest wineries in the region. They produce great wines from a myriad of appellations all over the Rhone valley. They exert the utmost care on their vines, the ecosystem of their soil, wine ageing/blending, and even barrel making - truly living their motto "Nul Bien Sans Peine" which means "no good without pain", a saying that is carved on their headquarter's Chateau d'Ampuis. Aside from Hermitage, they are well known for making great wine in Cote Rotie, Condrieu. St. Joseph, Crozes Hermitage, Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and Cotes du Rhone. Their top Cote Rotie wines are the quality benchmark for the appellation, and they produce an astonishing 40% of all wines produced in the appellation of Hermitage which is an unbelievable achievement in less than 60 years.Hermitage is one of the most famous appellations in the Northern Rhone or in France, and their single-vineyard wines are some of the most sought-after bottles which include Condrieu La Doriane. Starting with 2001, Guigal is striving to lay a claim that their top Hermitage wine, Guigal Ex Voto, is the benchmark wine for the Hermitage appellation as well.
