Backed by the financial arms and their family heritage, Joseph Drouhin produces some of the best Chardonnay in Burgundy that remains in sheer quality at extremely accessible prices. The grapes are harvested by hand in small open crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit, sorted twice then very carefully and slowly pressed. The wine is subsequently aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months, in which throughout the ageing process, further decisions are made after careful tasting and technical analysis but as with every Joseph Drouhin wine, absolute priority is given to the true expression of the terroir and character of the vintage.
Today we are pleased to offer Joseph Drouhin's Corton-Charlemagne from the 2018 vintage. A definite must-buy and one to stock up on as its current price is nearly 25% lower than the prior vintages 2015-2017, and the 2018 is considered to be one of the best vintages since the 2015s so we would expect prices of the 2018 vintage to go up soon as quantities gradually disappear from the market -

A much more restrained nose reluctantly offers up its array of exceptionally floral-infused aromas that include those of acacia, lilac and rose petal along with hints of Granny Smith apples and lemongrass. There is outstanding volume and power to the relatively refined larger-scaled flavors that are much, much more mineral-driven on the youthfully austere, serious and compact finish. This beauty will need at least a few years of keeping first and should amply reward 10 to 12.
Apart from the above 2018 offer, we have access to a special parcel of the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne which consists of 2 standard 750ml bottles and 2 magnum 1.5L bottles at just HK$7,800 - averaging at just HK$1,300 per 750ml! -

The restrained wood-inflected nose is comprised of green apple aromas that are tinged with hints of lavender, wet stone and citrus traces. The broad-shouldered and muscular middle weight plus flavors possess outstanding complexity with fine mid-palate concentration before concluding in an intensely mineral-driven finish that once again flashes excellent persistence. While this should improve effortlessly for 12 to 15 years, it could actually be approached after only 5-ish years.
All subject to final confirmation.
