Anselme Selosse, of Jacques Selosse, is the 4th generation for the house, and is one of the best growers and most influential winemakers in Champagne nowadays. His creations have become some of the most highly demanded Champagnes around the globe. He studied oenology in Burgundy, not in Champagne, and was introduced to some of the top Chardonnay producers there including Coche-Dury, Lafon and Leflaive in which he learned the keys to creating stunning, unique wines. After finishing his studies, he went back to his father's estate in Avize and took over the domaine in 1980 which he then began implementing significant changes which led the Champagne house to its international success we know nowadays.
The domaine owns vineyards extending over 8.3 hectares which are planted mostly with old vines that can date back to as far as 1922; and all the parcels are located on highly-rated plots in which nearly all are Grand Cru holdings such as Avize, Cramant and Oger. Anselme takes on a Burgundian philosophy in winemaking, and believes in low yields, organic viticulture and terroir. Wine critics have never been shy to express their appreciation for Anselme - "Anselme Selosse’s wines are among the most coveted bottles in Champagne.” – Antonio Galloni “No champagne grower is as renowned or as influential as Anselme Selosse. Whether directly or indirectly, he has inspired an entire generation of young winegrowers in the region, and among consumers, his champagnes have become some of the most sought-after wines in the world.” - Peter Liem Today we are pleased to share with you our latest collection from Jacques Selosse, which includes selections from various cuvees such as the single vintage Grand Cru Millesime 2007, brut-style Initial, longer-aged and extra-brut styled V.O.
