Domaine Fourrier is managed by second generation, Jean-Marie Fourrier, who took over the family estate in 1990 when he was only 23 years old but was already extremely experienced for his age. His experience came not only from his experience from working at his family domaine, but also from working with the legendary Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanee in which he was a part of the creation of the epic 1988 vintage. He learned and followed Jayer's philosphy in that the creation of the best wine starts in the vineyard, hence has been meticulous in the cultivation of his vineyards, most especially for the old vines at Domaine Fourrier, and the domaine has been well-known for the elegance and rich fruits with immense purity in their wines.
Domaine Fourrier owns some of the very best plots in Gevrey-Chambertin, most being planted in the 20th century, with Griotte-Chambertin and Clos St-Jacques being two of their more famed vineyards which vines were planted between 1902 and 1910. These two wines are highly demanded amongst Burgundy fans around the world but the production is very limited. The Clos St-Jacques 1er Cru is considered one of the vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin that have the qualities of being a Grand Cru class vineyard, and only 4 other top producers in Burgundy have ownership of this amazing premier cru and that includes Armand Rousseau, Louis Jadot, Bruno Clair and Sylvie Esmonin.
Today we are pleased to offer Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St-Jacques 1er Cru 2008 from stock, at HK$3,600 per bottle, this is only about 60% the price of the same from Armand Rousseau^ and with a 96pts score from Antonio Galloni -

The 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques engages all of the senses with its cool, mineral-laced fruit and expressive bouquet. This shows marvelous tension and energy, not to mention fabulous overall balance. It could not be more different in style than the 2009 tasted alongside it. Both are fabulous, though. The 2008 is one of the more backward wines of the vintage and will require considerable patience.
Apart from the 2008, we have our very last bottle of Clos St-Jacques 2011 available from stock -
