The Tarlant family started as wine growers back in 1684 and now produces some of the best quality Champagne with each release being immediately enjoyable, thanks to the excellent skills and experience of their winemaker Benoit Tarlant. Located in the Vallée de la Marne, many of the wines are matured in oak barrels to gain complexity. Benoit Tarlant has been doing excellent work in the vineyards and undoubtedly an outstanding grower in Champagne to explore by terroirs.
We have just received our latest purchases of Tarlant’s 'L'Etincelante' 2002 and La Matinale 2003, with almost 14 years of ageing in the bottle before disgorgement, and is now a full-bodied Champagne with intrinsic power and complexity. Immediately available from stock, we are delighted to offer -
2002 Tarlant 'L'Etincelante' Prestige Millesime (Disgorged Sep 2018)
HK$1,280 per bottle, 6 bottles available

95pts Antonio Galloni
The 2002 Brut Nature L’Étincelante is one of the most restrained 2002 Champagnes readers will come across. And it is absolutely exquisite. Delicate scents of apricot, chamomile, pear, baked apple tart, brioche and yellow flowers all lift from the glass. Medium in body and super-refined, the 2002 has so much to recommend it. This is a tremendous showing from Benoit Tarlant.
2003 Tarlant La Matinale Brut Nature (Disgorged Mar 2018)
HK$780 per bottle, 12 bottles available
Immediately available from stock
93pts Antonio Galloni
The 2003 Brut Nature La Matinale is gorgeous. Apricot pit, peach, smoke, honey, wild flowers and mint are all super-expressive. The 2003 is rich, voluptuous and powerful, with magnificent purity and compelling overall balance. This is one of several 2003s where Tarlant simply nailed it. La Matinale, named after the morning harvest that takes place only between 6-11am, is 45% Pinot Noir, 28% Chardonnay and 27% Pinot Meunier. Disgorged January 2014.
Apart from the above, we can also offer Tarlant’s flagship Champagne, Cuvee Louis, which is fermented in old oak barrels and spent over 10 years in the bottle to age. We are able to access their recent release with its base wine from vintage 2002 and 2003, directly shipped from the champagne house -

95pts Antonio Galloni (Wine notes from previous release) The NV Extra Brut Cuvée Louis is based on 1999, with reserve wines from 1996, 1997 and 1998. Here the style is decidedly on the oxidative side, with plenty of warm, nutty and spice overtones that develop in the glass. Almond, hazelnut, orange jam, cinnamon and white pepper all make an appearance. Rich, broad and creamy on the palate, the Cuvée Louis is an excellent choice for drinking today, as the flavors are already a bit forward. The Cuvée Louis will appeal most to readers who enjoy vinous Champagnes. The 1999 is 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. Disgorged July 2014. Dosage is 1.8 grams/liter.
All subject to final confirmation. ETA status as stated above.
