First instalment of the week for our "Wines for Home" selection is the Dom Perignon 1996 at a special offer of HK$1,990 per bottle for a purchase of just 2 bottles or above, and also a small selection of other Dom Perignons we have in stock.
The world’s most famous Champagne and simply the most popular prestigious Grande Marque, Dom Perignon is a luxury cuvee offering some of the best presentations of Champagne. Their champagne is best enjoyed when they are mature, as it has been made with a reductive style that usually takes a very long time to evolve in the bottle, in which it becomes tremendously refined and complex.
Proud to have secured three cases of Dom Perignon 1996 today, it is in its 24th year of age and just hitting the lower reach of its drinking window. Sadly most of the 1996 vintage was drunk long ago, when it was still far too young therefore cases with the cellaring necessary to really let it show are extremely rare. Scored 98pts by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and 97pts from Allen Meadows, 1996 Dom Perignon is one of the best examples of the world's most famous Champagne. Dom Perignon 1996 HK$2,040 per bottle Special Offer – HK$1,990 per bottle if you buy two bottles or above (Valid until end of Friday, 24th July 2020) Loose bottles, Comes from original case of 6 18 bottles available, Immediately available for delivery 98pts Wine Advocate The brilliant 1996 Dom Perignon, which has largely disappeared from the marketplace, may be the finest young example of DP I have ever tasted. Notes of crushed rocks, honeysuckle, lemon oil, orange marmalade, and white pear provide a stunning aromatic display as well as palate impression. Great acidity and huge flavor intensity backed up by vibrant acidity make this an exquisite Champagne. It should drink well for 20-25 years, possibly longer. Readers should remember that the 1971 Dom Perignon Rose is still drinking exquisitely. I recently had the 1969 and 1970 Dom Perignons (from magnum), and both were drinking brilliantly. It makes one realize just how long-lived these wines can be. 97pts Allen Meadows A distinctly reticent but elegant nose with a purity of expression that is truly impressive to experience as it's relatively high-toned and while the yeast comes up with air, it's relatively muted at present, combining with intense, precise and superbly detailed and complex flavors that culminate in an explosive and wonderfully long finish. This may very well rival the sublime '90 in time even if it's not quite as concentrated. This is still a baby so there is absolutely no rush whatsoever. Apart from Dom Perignon 1996, we can also offer the following Dom Perignons which are immediately available for delivery -
