Méo-Camuzet is inarguably one of the top producers in Burgundy, known to produce full-bodied, firm, concentrated, and oaky wines and therefore loved by Burgundy drinkers all around the world. The quality of the wine is no doubt the amazing craftsmanship from their winemakers at Méo-Camuzet – owner Jean-Nicolas Meo and Christian Faurois – who are regarded as some of the most meticulous wine producers in the region.
Before Jean-Nicolas Meo took over the Domaine from his family, the Domaine leased their vineyards to several growers (métayers) and many of them were reaching retirement. With no one else in the family willing to take over, Jean-Nicolas, who was living in Paris at the time, decided to move back to Burgundy with his wife in 1989 and began studying oenology in Dijon. Young and unexperienced, he was very fortunate to receive training and guidance from former leaseholders, Christian Faurois and Henri Jayer over the years. Since then, the domaine has gone from strength to strength and quickly made their way up to the top as the world knows them nowadays.
Not many people are aware that Méo-Camuzet’s winemaker Christian Faurois actually produces Bourgogne under his own label but at a very limited volume. With his years of experience at Méo-Camuzet, we have high confidence in the quality of his Bourgogne and have been keeping our radar on his wines which are extremely difficult to find!
