Deutz is a Champagne house with German origins, founded in 1838 by two Prussian immigrants, William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. It was acquired by Louis Roederer in 1993 and now owns 42 hectares of vineyard and has an extensive sourcing network for grapes. With the financial assistance from the Roederer powerhouse, Deutz has become one of the largest Champagne houses nowadays, "Growing like a mad thing", said Tyson Stelzer, Writer of The Champagne Guide. Champagne specialist and writer Tom Stevenson described the house's style to be "firm, flavor-packed yet full of character”.
One of their most notable productions is "Amour de Deutz", which is named after the statue of Cupid that stands in Deutz's courtyard in Aÿ. It is made from the best lots of the house and is a highly-regarded prestige cuvee. We are pleased to offer a selection of their Amour de Deutz from 2009 and 2010 which gained high praise from critics, including Antonio Galloni who scored the 2009 with 95pts and the Rose 2009 with 94pts. Now at special prices valid from today til end of 13th May (next Wed), all physically in stock and ready for delivery, order today to enjoy the bottles over the weekend! -
Deutz Amour de Deutz Blanc de Blancs Brut Millesime 2009 HK$850 per bottle Special Price – HK$820 per bottle
33 bottles available 95pts Antonio Galloni The 2009 Brut Millésimé Amour de Deutz is laced with white flowers, mint, white pepper and citrus peel, all of which give it terrific brightness and energy to play off the natural radiance of the year. Medium in body and aromatically deep, the 2009 has enough verve to develop nicely in bottle for many years to come. Overall, this is a relatively airy, understated Champagne for a year that generally produced more overt wines. Deutz Amour de Deutz Blanc de Blancs Brut Millesime Rose 2009 HK$900 per bottle Special Price – HK$860 per bottle (Best Price in The World^)
6 bottles available 94pts Antonio Galloni The 2009 Brut Rosé Millésimé Amour de Deutz is airy and gracious. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, mint, red flowers and vanillin are all nicely lifted throughout. The 2009 is quite pretty, but it is also a bit ethereal. Given the vintage, I expected more depth and richness. As it is, the 2009 is very attractive, but readers should expect a slightly nervous, clenched style.
