Dominique Laurent focuses on buying old vines across many appellations in Bourgogne in which most of the wines are negotiant arms and Dominique Laurent works with the growers very closely to ensure the quality of the grapes. He believes that Vieilles Vignes (old vines) gives the complexity and texture to the wines so his style in winemaking is also distinct in which he applies more oak than most other winemakers in Burgundy, making his wines powerful, richly-flavored and complex.
Following the successful campaign of Bonnes-Mares and Grands Echezeaux earlier this month, we have been allocated the last 24 bottles of the famous Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru 2011 and this might be the sexiest offer around town and definitely should not miss if you are a Chambertin fan. Awarded a high score of 94-97pts from Vinous Stephen Tanzer and at just HK$1,480 per bottle, it is extremely competitive if you compare it with the leading producers such as Armand Rousseau who scored 94pts and nowadays asking for over HK$12,000 per bottle. This is a deal almost too good to be true to be able to secure Dominique Laurent Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru 2011 at this price -

94-97 pts Stephen Tanzer
(from 40- and 100-year-old vines) Bright ruby-red. Knockout nose melds redcurrant, raspberry, wild rose, botanical herbs and strong gunflinty minerality. Silky, lively and suave, with an element of exotic spices contributing to the wine's inner-mouth lift and perfume. Really leaves the palate quivering on the very long finish. This wine already offers remarkable appeal, and Laurent feels that it may evolve more quickly than a number of his other grand crus since it was not vinified with stems. It's also his favorite 2011 today, and he told me he prefers it to the 2010 version.
Subject to final confirmation. ETA 8 weeks.
