Pinot Noir from Burgundy is inarguably the best in the world and is the role model for most if not all the Pinot-makers around the globe. No doubt Burgundy Pinot Noir is "naturally gifted" with the terroirs it holds - with a cool climate and soils rich in minerals - giving it a competitive edge against other Pinot Noir grapes grown elsewhere; and probably the most important key to success in Pinot Noir wine production stems from the long history and expertise of the Burgundians from decades of managing Pinots from wine to vine. So, what would happen if a leading Burgundy maker were to manage and produce Pinot Noirs on other lands outside of Burgundy? Nicolas Jay is an excellent example. Nicolas Jay is a venture of a celebrated Burgundian winemaker Jean-Nicolas Meo of Domaine Meo-Camuzet and his friend Jay Boberg - a renowned music and media entrepreneur. They started their business in 2012 in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley in which Jean-Nicolas Meo has been fully in charge to craft their exciting and elegant Pinot Noirs to show the terroir of this Valley. Their debut vintage 2013 had sold out upon its release and qualities have excelled in the following vintages. From the excellent hands of Jean-Nicolas Meo, we are pleased to offer the Nicolas Jay 2017 vintage at a special offer today which is definitely the shrewdest buy of the week -

Nicolas-Jay is a Pinot Noir venture between celebrated Burgundian winemaker Jean-Nicolas Méo of Domaine Méo-Camuzet and renowned music and media entrepreneur Jay Boberg. Traditional French winemaking meets quintessential Oregon terroir. Fruit for this wine is sourced from almost every AVA in the Willamette Valley, but almost exclusively from biodynamic, organic and LIVE certified vineyards. Unique sites include high-elevation Eola-Amity Hills, the foothills of the cool coastal range in the McMinnville AVA, the warm red-soiled vineyards of the Dundee Hills and their expressive Bishop Creek Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. 2017 was a cool harvest following a 10-day heat spike. 30% new French oak. Rich and juicy with sweet fruit. Lots to enjoy here (apart from the price) and more moderate and balanced than some other wines from this producer I have tasted. Shows the pleasure to be had from Oregon Pinot...
