An outstanding and large monopole which extends to over 7ha in Morey St Denis. Clos de Tart makes around 6-8 stainless steel tanks of wines each year with 18 months of barrel ageing. The vineyard has extended to seven different terroirs which Clos de Tart has fermented separately before the final blend. As Julia Harding described , Clos de Tart 2007 remains "Firm and dark, rich and powerful.”. The yield remains extremely low in Clos de Tart - legal requirement at 42hl/ha but in 2007 they only reach 27hl/ha which produce only around 3,000 cases for the whole vintage. Absolutely, Clos de Tart is a wonderful estate producing the most reliable Grand Cru in Burgundy. 2007 is a vintage to be enjoyable when young with the fantastic price tag you should give it a try when it has arrived it’s 10 years maturation.

Cask sample but soon to be bottled. Deep bright garnet. Slightly darker fruit character than some recent vintages. Firm and dark, rich and powerful. Peppery. Really long. Tight, determined and focused.

Cropped at 27hl/ha, this has a very intriguing nose; much "controlled" than anticipated; not light, but very refined with great delineation, brambly red fruits, a hint of wild strawberry complemented by smoke/woodland. It is almost the antithesis of the 2003. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, very feminine with wonderfully integrated new oak. I love the poise of this wine, wonderfully retrained, a paradigm of a "less is more" Pinot Noir. Wonderful structure on the finish that suggests this will be one of the longer lived wines of the vintage. Drink 2012-2020.
